Dhanbad Municipal Corporation launched a free Air Conditioned passenger shade facility for passengers near the Dhanbad Bus Depot. The six-seater AC passenger shade established on public private partnership mode will be operational from 5 am to 10 pm.

Talking to media, Satyendra Kumar, Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner said, "The AC passenger shade facility will be available on first come first serve basis for passengers but prolonged stay of more than 15-20 minutes will not be allowed as it will lead to unwanted gathering under the shade.”

“We have launched the first AC passenger shade last evening near Dhanbad Bus Depot at Bartand and will be launching 20-25 more on public private partnership basis in phase wise manner across the town, the 2^nd one of which will be launched near SSLNT Women’s college soon” said Kumar.

“The DMC has not invested money for launching of the AC passenger shade and rather has only provided space and the private party which has installed the shade will be earning money through advertisement put on the sidewalls of the shade” said Kumar.

“Such facilities which are part of the public amenities also help in improving the perception of residents about the town and we have already started getting good feedbacks from the common people during the online ranking for Swachh Survekshan” said Kumar and added that Dhanbad is prominently featuring in the ranking.

“The facility is part of DMC drive to improve public amenities as per which we will be also relaunching city bus service in Dhanbad town and the AC passenger shade will serve as the stoppage for the city bus service after its relaunching,” said Kumar.
