50 VCs to speak on best learning

More than 50 vice-chancellors of universities in eastern India will deliberate for two days starting Thursday on “best learning processes in Indian higher education”, at Central University Jharkhand (CUJ) at Brambey, 20km from the state capital.

Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an apex body of higher education in the country established in 1925 with membership of 770 Indian universities and 16 from other countries, including Bhutan, UAE, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Malaysia, Nepal, UK, Russia and eight others as associate members, will organise the event.

Governor Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the inaugural session on Thursday, which will start at 11am and continue till noon. The guest of honour at the inaugural session will be the chairman of Educational Technology Management Association, Marmar Mukhopadhyay.

The inaugural session will be followed by technical ones in which the vice-chancellors (VCs) will share their views, the VC of CUJ, Nand Kumar Yadav ‘Indu’, said at a news meet at Press Club.

“This is an annual event of the AIU for east zone. This is being organised for the second time in the state. Points emerging in the deliberation will be sent to the government to plan in the field of higher education,” Indu said.

Of the 770 universities across the country, 125 are in east zone under which Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, North East besides Jharkhand falls. Of the 125 universities, only 50 will participate on Thursday.
