Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar, has trumped Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD in advance booking for Day 1, earning over Rs 80 crore in India and more than Rs 100 crore gross globally in pre-sales, according to industry data-tracking platform Sacnilk.
According to a report on Sacnilk, Pushpa 2: The Rule has already become Allu Arjun's biggest domestic and worldwide opener based on pre-sales alone. The actor's previous biggest starter was the original 2021 film, Pushpa - The Rise, which opened with approximately Rs 64 crores gross worldwide, including around Rs 53 crores in India.
Over 1 million tickets for the film have been sold on BookMyShow across India, the platform announced on X on Monday.
Pushpa 2 is the sequel to Allu’s 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise, which became a massive box-office success across India.
While Allu is set to reprise his role as the titular character Pushpa Raj, Rashmika and Fahadh Faasil will also return as Srivalli and SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively. The trailer, dropped on November 17, promises an epic showdown between Pushpa and SP Shekhawat. The video also teases Pushpa and Srivalli’s on-screen chemistry and Sreeleela’s much-talked-about dance number Kissik.
Slated to hit screens on December 5, Pushpa 2 has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
As per BookMyShow, the film has a three-hour-20-minute runtime.
The music for Pushpa 2: The Rule has been scored by Devi Sri Prasad, while Miroslaw Kuba Brozek has handled the cinematography.
