Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan releases worldwide, fans go crazy to watch early morning show in Mumbai

The film has set all-time record for advance ticket sales by any Bollywood film with its opening-day worldwide figure of Rs 51 crore gross

Shah Rukh Khan's much anticipated film, Jawan, released on Thursday across the world with fans in Mumbai staying awake to catch the first show at 6am at a local theatre amidst chants of "India ki shaan, Shah Rukh Khan".

Jawan is expected to have released in 10,000 screens worldwide, reports NDTV and other media outlets. The film has been released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. It is directed by Atlee and stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara along with Shah Rukh. Deepika Padukone also appears in a cameo. The film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment.

Jawan has been described by its makers as a high-octane thriller outlining "the emotional journey of a man who is set to rectify the wrongs in society". Shah Rukh is seen in multiple avatars in the film, from a bandaged face to rocking a bald look, the actor seems to have done it all.

After playing multiple negative roles in Tamil language films, Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist Kalee in Jawan. The extremely popular Nayanthara is making her Hindi film debut with Jawan and music composer-singer Anirudh Ravichander is also making his foray into Bollywood with the film.

Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house behind Jawan, urged audiences to shun piracy and watch the film in theatres. A fan page dedicated to Shah Rukh Khan shared a video showing the excitement of fans from the film's early morning show. The actor reacted to the video on his X account.

Analysts have predicted that Jawan is set to record the biggest Bollywood opener of all time, both domestically and globally. The film has set all-time record for advance ticket sales by any Bollywood film with its opening-day worldwide figure of Rs 51 crore gross, reports India Today. Experts believe the film will break the records of his previous film Pathaan, which released on January 25, 2023. Pathaan became the first Hindi film to gross over Rs 100 crore on its first day and collected Rs 540 crore worldwide on five days.
