Ponniyin Selvan II
Lyco Productions on Wednesday announced the release date of the second part of Mani Ratnam’s epic historical drama film Ponniyin Selvan. The film stars Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vanthiyathevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Trisha as Kundhavai and Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman.
The first part of the film series collected over Rs 500 crore at the box office and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. Lyca Productions tweeted a short video to announce the release date of the sequel and wrote, “Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!”
Ponniyin Selvan II or PS2 will hit the cinemas on April 28, 2023.
Megan
Universal Pictures on Wednesday dropped the first look for its upcoming science fiction horror film Megan. Directed by Gerard Johnstone, the film stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng and Brian Jordan Alvarez.
In the one-minute-50-second-long video, we see glimpses of the premise. A brilliant roboticist uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. However, things go wrong when the AI becomes self-aware and goes on a killing spree.
Megan will arrive in cinemas on January 6, 2023.
Cocktail
A2 Music released the trailer for the upcoming Kannada-language film Cocktail on Wednesday. Directed by Sriram and produced by Dr Shivappa, the film stars Viren Keshav, Charishma, Shobharaj, Shivamani, Ramesh Pandith Chandrakala Mohan and Karisubbu.
The three-minute-three-second-long trailer introduces us to an interrogation which leads to a montage of a sprawling romance between a young girl and a boy. However, the human sacrifice of the girl at the hands of a cult group leads to drastic emotional and psychological changes in the boy. The clip also features a Joker on a killing spree.
Cocktail will hit theatres on January 6, 2023.
Vaishampaayana Theera
The trailer of the upcoming Kannada film Vaishampaayana Theera has been unveiled by A2 Music. The film is directed by Ramesh Begar and produced by R.Suresh Babu. It stars Pramod Shetty, Ramesh Bhat, Vaijayanthi Adiga, Babu Hirannayya, Ravish Hegde and Prasanna Shettigaar. The music for the film is composed by Srinidhi M.K. Koppa.
The two-minute-47-second-long trailer shows glimpses of the story set in rural Karnataka. We are introduced to the characters and their stories in the trailer. Going by the trailer, it seems that the storyline has a close connection with the folk theatre of Karnataka.
