It’s a wrap for Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bawaal’

Both Karan and Varun took to social media to announce the wrap on their upcoming films

Filmmaker Karan Johar on Monday announced the wrap on his upcoming directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, while actor Varun Dhawan finished shooting for his upcoming film Bawaal in Poland.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is a family drama starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead alongside veteran stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in key roles.

Karan took to Twitter to share the update on the wrap of the film, which he described as a piece of his heart.

“... a kahani that became a journey which I will hold close to me forever! I sat in the director’s chair after many years and it felt like coming home. We had legends and superstars on the set and in front of the camera - they were magic!” he wrote.

The filmmaker, whose last directorial was 2016's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also thanked the crew of the film for their support.

Meanwhile, Varun, 35, also shared the news of the shooting wrap for Bawaal in an Instagram post.

Humne macha diya hain har jaga BAWAAL! Wrapping up the film in Ajju Bhaiyya Style! Agla Bawaal hoga theatres mein 7 April 2023 ko,” the Jugjugg Jeeyo actor wrote in the caption of the video.

The story of Bawaal is penned by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who also wrote the script with Piyush Gupta, Nikhil Mehrotra, Shreyas Jain and husband Nitesh Tiwari.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy.

A Dharma Productions project, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is slated to be released on February 10, 2023.

Bawaal has been backed by Sajid Nadiadwala's production banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari's Earthsky Pictures.

Billed as a romance drama, Bawaal went on floors in April in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and the team later travelled to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Poland for principal photography. The film is slated to hit the screens on April 7, 2023.
