Mammootty is set to reprise his iconic role as Bilal John Kurishingal in Amal Neerad’s action-thriller Bilal, a sequel to his blockbuster 2007 neo-noir action thriller Big B, the director hinted on social media on Monday.
Neerad shared a striking video featuring Mammootty as Bilal on Facebook. The video is created by Rajeev Gopal, the renowned artist behind the title graphics of Big B (2007).
"Thank you so much, dear Rajeev Gopal, who worked on the title graphics of Big B and is one of the greatest technicians I have ever collaborated with,” Neerad wrote alongside the video.
The 38-second-long video begins with intense visuals of guns and skulls, gradually transitioning into lion heads and robots. It then leads to a close-up shot of Mammootty. The 71-year-old actor, appearing notably younger than his actual age, emanates a charismatic aura, dressed in a three-piece suit, sporting long hair, a mustache and a beard.
The video features the background score composed by Sushin Shyam for Neerad's Bheeshma Parvam (2022).
Neerad's association with Mammootty began with Ranjith's film Black (2004), for which the former served as the cinematographer. Neerad made his directorial debut with Big B, headlined by Mammootty. They also collaborated for Neerad’s 2022 blockbuster Bheeshma Parvam.
