“This has been a one-of-a-kind franchise-based tournamnet. We have had a great response across the spectrum with a boy of 12 and a 73-year-old veteran sharing the stage. We are promoting sports and I am grateful to all the players, sponsors and partners for helping to put together this sporting carnival, and it has been one big family affair for RCGC,” said Rajesh Chandan, sports coordinator, RCGC.
“This is the first time we are having a tournament of this sort. It was carried out very efficiently by Titoo Baweja, Rajesh Chandan and other members of the committee. There has been incredible participation, and a sense of great bonhomie among the people involved. This tournament is here to stay,” said Rohan Ghosh, club captain, RCGC.
“We always try to come up with something new, like we did with darts. And thus, with table tennis, we organised this franchise-based tournament with wonderful participation of members from all age brackets. The reception and the interest speaks volumes,” said Titoo Baweja, sports convener, RCGC.
Guests of Honour for the evening were Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Nandita Saha and Arjuna Awardee and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Subhajit Saha.
