First look of Shantanu Goenka's revamped store on Christopher road

Warmth and a certain cosiness mark the refurbished interiors of fashion designer Shantanu Goenka’s store on Christopher Road (Tangra). A large glass wall and the Barbie wall it mirrors are the highlights of this 1,000sq ft space. Shantanu’s creations in vibrant and pastel shades play a cameo. We loved the feeling of home that Shantanu says was the main idea. The giant mirror adds drama. “There were different rooms earlier. We have broken down all the walls and have one little store and a walk-in studio. We wanted to keep our signature colours red and black with a hint of gold. We added a little grey for the neutral effect. We wanted it to look luxurious yet comfortable. We haven’t flooded the store with clothes. We will give you a teaser of what we have. We do timeless pieces. We only change the fabrics a little during winter and summer. Cotton and lightweight ones for summer and more silks, velvets and pashminas during the winters. We are doing patolas in a big way. The feedback is positive and I hope the sales are positive also,” says the softspoken designer who has garnered a vast experience of over two decades.
