A BCom third-year student at a city college died after his motorcycle rammed into a footpath railing in Beleghata on Sunday night.

Singh, pursuing BCom from Surendranath College, was taken to NRS hospital where he was declared dead.

“From the condition of the bike after it crashed, it was clear that it was moving at a high speed and it may have been possible that the rider failed to negotiate with the speed,” said an officer.

Singh was allegedly not wearing a helmet and had suffered maximum injuries on his head, cops said.

Hours before this accident, two youths on a motorcycle fell to their death as their two-wheeler crashed into the parapet of the Parama flyover flinging the two of the vehicle, the police said.

The duo landed on the road below the flyover with fatal injuries. The police recovered one helmet from the spot near the Parama island.
