Pushpa 2: The Rule is one of the highly anticipated movies of this year. Starring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna and Sritej in key roles, the film is set to hit the screen on December 5.
Ahead of its release, the makers organised a grand trailer launch at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar on November 17.
The event was attended by the film's stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna as well as over 10,000 screaming fans. At one point, things seemed to be getting out of control as fans climbed barricades and structures to get close to the stars.
Rajeev Mishra, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Patna, denied that the police had to lathi charge to control the situation, as claimed by a section of the media.
Videos from the event even showed some members of the crowd throwing slippers and other items at the police personnel when they were stopped from trying to get close to the stage or climb the scaffolding to get a better glimpse of the stars.
Police officials maintained that the situation was under control.
"Only a group of people who had come to watch the event and tried to cross the barricade were removed. An adequate number of security personnel have been deployed at Gandhi Maidan," SSP Mishra was quoted as saying.
Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh also told PTI that everything was under control.
Allu Arjun reportedly dedicated the Pushpa 2 trailer to audiences and fans globally as a token of gratitude for the immense love and appreciation the franchise has received.
Before the trailer launch, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna jetted off to Patna with their crew to attend the great event. They received a warm welcome from their fans at the airport. They also smiled for the paparazzi before going for the trailer-release event.
Ahead of its trailer release today, the makers shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the film has already grossed an impressive $852,000 from over 30,700 tickets sold, making it the fastest and highest pre-sale collection ever recorded for an Indian film before its trailer release.
The first part of Pushpa, directed by Sukumar, showcased power tussles set against the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling.
