Mathemagica 2024: Akshar’s Mathematics Fest Ends on a High Note with Exciting Events!

Akshar's highly anticipated inter-school mathematics fest, MATHEMAGICA 2024, wrapped up on November 12, leaving participants and visitors inspired and entertained. Over two exciting days, the event hosted students from 16 schools, including 10 from Kolkata and 6 from outstation, who gathered to explore the enchanting world of mathematics. Chief guest Mr Prodipta Hore and esteemed personalities like Mr and Mrs Arathoon, Mr Sanjay Budhia, Ms Minu Budhia, and Mr Leslie Da Gama graced the fest, adding to its prestige. The opening day set the tone for an engaging celebration, with a heartwarming lamp-lighting ceremony by esteemed guests and school representatives.

The lighting of the lamp was followed by a captivating performance by Akshar’s school choir. Their melodious songs enchanted the audience, setting a harmonious tone for the festivities. The inauguration was also laced with laughter, courtesy of a skit titled “To Count or Not Count,” leaving attendees in stitches and adding a delightful twist to the start of the event.

Students put their collaborative skills to the test in Polygon Trains, an event where participants worked together to explore the practicalities of mathematical shapes and structures. Meanwhile, Soaring Kites allowed students to creatively design and fly their kites, symbolizing mathematical precision and free-spirited fun. The vibrant kites and collaborative teamwork brought smiles to participants and spectators alike.

The event Triangulate a Poem merged poetic expression with mathematical precision, highlighting how words and numbers intersect beautifully. Similarly, Piems combined linguistic artistry and mathematical sequences, adding a creative twist to the fest and engaging both wordsmiths and math enthusiasts.

In the Game Designing competition, senior students showcased their creativity by developing interactive games that simplified complex mathematical concepts for younger participants. The BSS school’s innovative game was a standout, blending education and play to make math accessible and fun.
