Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said if any of the 8 lakh Amphan-hit people eligible for financial aid was deprived of the benefits, he or she could directly approach the police.

“You need not to go to anybody or fill up any form by paying money. The administration will take care of this. If you have any complaint, submit a letter to the local police station,” Mamata said at Nabanna on Wednesday.

The state government received nearly 2,000 complaints of irregularities from across the state after Rs 6,500 crore was released to compensate the cyclone victims. Trinamul insiders said Mamata did not want complaints against local Trinamul leaders of demanding “cut money” from beneficiaries ahead of the crucial 2021 Assembly polls.

104 safe homes

Mamata on Wednesday said the state government would set up 104 safe homes to treat Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms to reduce the load on dedicated Covid hospitals. Doctors will visit them twice a day, she said.
