A video purportedly showing a young woman stripped to her underwear at an Iranian university, reportedly in protest against Iran’s strict Islamic dress code for women, took the internet by storm. The young student reportedly accosted for not wearing a hijab, staged a solo protest outside Tehran’s Islamic Azad University before she was seen being ‘pushed her into a car and driven off.’ While her whereabout remains unknown, many have demanded to know what happened to her…

As many on the internet hailed the young student as the “brave face of true resistance…” it brought back memories of nationwide protests in Iran in 2022, following the death of Mahsa Amini, arrested for not wearing her hijab properly. In fact, in Iran, women’s clothing has always been dictated by the ruling regime. But for how long?
