Lionel Messi scored one goal and set up the other as Paris Saint-Germain won at a wasteful Nice 2-0 to maintain their six-point lead in the French league.

Messi crossed another career milestone scoring his 702nd goal in Europe surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo (701) in 105 fewer matches.

The Argentine superstar clipped in a cross from left-back Nuno Mendes in the 26th minute. Then Messi's corner from the left was headed home by defender Sergio Ramos in the 76th.

De Ligt strikes

An unstoppable 25-metre strike from defender Matthijs de Ligt handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 victory over Freiburg, keeping them two points clear at the top of the table with seven games remaining.

The Bavarians had been beaten at home by Freiburg 2-1 in the German Cup last-eight on Tuesday. Desperate to make amends and protect their Bundesliga lead, Bayern had possession and a couple of good chances in the first half.

Lazio in full flow

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Mattia Zaccagni scored as Lazio showed a ruthless attacking streak to beat Juventus 2-1 at home as Maurizio Sarri's side consolidated second place in Serie A.

Lazio have 58 points, five ahead of AS Roma in third with nine matches left in the campaign.

Juve, who are fighting for a place in the top-six, are seventh with 44 points, four points behind Atalanta.

"I am proud of the attitude of these players," Sarri said.
