Speculation over Kylian Mbappe’s future continues with the French superstar seemingly irked by Real Madrid’s attempt to pressure him into signing a pre-contract agreement this month.
British media has also been speculating that Mbappe is keen to explore other options, which include a stint in the English Premier League. Real Madrid, a club much coveted by Mbappe, are learnt to have made the 25-year-old an offer to become their highest-paid player when his two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires this summer.
According to The Times, London, having verbally agreed on deals with Mbappe in 2017 and 2022, only to see the player sign terms with PSG instead, Real Madrid placed a January deadline on him to accept their latest offer.
Mbappe’s camp has sought to end such speculation by releasing a statement on the rumours about Real Madrid.
“There’s NO agreement or decision made on Kylian’s future. There have been NO formal discussions”.
“No type of influence could dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, reflections and decisions”.
Mbappe, according to reports, has told his close associates that he wants to decide on his future according to his convenience and time.
Mbappe, asked by French media if he knew his next career move, said: “No.”
“I haven’t made up my mind yet. I have not made a choice.”
Mbappe has gone on record with his admiration for Jurgen Klopp’s football and about “talks” he held with Liverpool before re-signing with PSG in 2022.
