Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called for more investment in the club so they can challenge for trophies after the team finished third in the Premier League this season.
United sealed the third place, finishing the season with 75 points, after they came from behind to defeat Fulham 2-1 in the last game of the league season on Sunday.
The Old Trafford club, which won the League Cup in February, has the chance to add to their silverware when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
"We are in the right direction, but we are not there where we have to be.
"There's still a long way to go, there's potential in this team," Ten Hag told reporters on Sunday.
"The club knows if you want to play top four, compete for trophies in this tough league then you have to invest otherwise you don't have a chance because other clubs will do."
Giroud ensures top-4 finish
Turin: AC Milan secured a place in the Champions League next season with a 1-0 victory at Juventus as a goal from Olivier Giroud ensured a top-four finish in Serie A on Sunday.
Fourth-placed Milan on 67 points hold a six-point advantage over fifth-placed Atalanta heading into the final round of matches, while Juventus sit seventh with 59.
Milan join rivals Inter Milan and Lazio in guaranteeing their places in next season’s Champions League as top-four finishers along with Serie A champions Napoli.
There is still a possibility for five Italian teams to participate in next season’s competition if AS Roma beat Sevilla in the Europa League final.
Milan manager Stefano Pioli expressed his relief that his team had finally confirmed their participation in Europe’s elite club competition.
Sociedad make cut
Real Sociedad suffered a 1-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday, but secured a top-four finish and Champions League qualification after Villarreal also lost 2-1 at Rayo Vallecano. With one round left, Real Sociedad are fourth with 68 points, five ahead of fifth-placed Villarreal.
Real Sociedad will join Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and La Liga champions Barcelona in Europe’s elite club competition next season.
