Amazon already has a very successful video streaming service in the form of Prime Video but to access it the user has to leave the shopping app

Chances of shoppers on Amazon staying engaged with the platform has increased with the launch of miniTV, which is a free video streaming service that works within the Android version of the shopping app.

Amazon already has a very successful video streaming service in the form of Prime Video but to access it the user has to leave the shopping app. The new option gives users access to a wide range of shows, tech news and videos related to food, beauty, fashion and much more. In way of content there are several titles from TVF and Pocket Aces, besides comedians like Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Round2Hell, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun Anand, Elvish Yadav, Prajakta Koli, Swagger Sharma, Aakash Gupta and Nishant Tanwar.

At a glance, not the entire catalogue seems to be new but viewers don’t mind that. Where miniTV may have substantial impact are through videos around tech, fashion, beauty and food trends. You are obviously on Amazon looking to purchase a product and some of these videos may shape your buying habit. Providing content will be Trakin Tech, Sejal Kumar, Malvika Sitlani, Jovita George, Prerna Chhabra and ShivShakti while food lovers can enjoy content from Kabita’s Kitchen, Cook with Nisha and Gobble.
To access miniTV, all you need to do is visit the Amazon app on your Android phone (iOS will be available in the coming months) and scroll down to access miniTV. Tap on miniTV to be be redirected to a new section, which includes free web series and other content.

Two years ago Amazon had launched an ad-supported streaming service called IMDb TV in the US while the company’s rival, Flipkart, also has an in-app video streaming service. Zomato has also tried providing bite-sized video content.
