Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Piya Chakraborty’s recent trip to Purulia is travel inspiration. Purulia, now crimson with Palash in full bloom, is only approximately six hours away from Kolkata, and is perfect to make most of TGIF or to get away on Holi.
My Kolkata recommends a few must do’s while in Purulia during the Palash season:
- Take a trip to the mukosh gram aka Charida, the Tugga and Bamni falls, Murguma, Garh Panchkot among other popular destinations
- Shop for Palash garlands from the locals and slip one on like Piya
- Carry a bag and pick Palash from the roadsides. Bring them back, put the packet in the freezer to keep them fresh and adorn your house. What a beautiful little souvenir to gift too, isn’t it?
