Indian fast bowling legend Jhulan Goswami turns 42 years old
today, and her career is one to celebrate and draw inspiration from. Hailing
from Nadia in West Bengal, Jhulan first played for India in 2002. She announced
retirement from her international career in 2022. With 255 ODI, she is the most
successful Woman ODI bowler. The internationally reputed sports personality has
played 44 test wickets and 56 T20I wickets, and remains to be India’s most
successful bowler with a tally of 355 wickets for her country. The cricket
legend played about 284 international matches.
The pride of Bengal will be honoured with a stand at the
Eden Gardens in Kolkata that will be named after her in 2025.
My Kolkata wishes the Bengal and India legend a very
Happy Birthday. Among her new roles include taking up coaching roles for Mumbai
Indians Women and also mentoring the Bengal squad. May Jhulan’s incredible
efforts in taking women’s cricket inspire several generations of cricketers.
