The Kolkata Centre for Creativity is celebrating the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore with a three-day festival. From music, literature, theatre to rare photographs and letters — the event will pay homage to the Nobel laureate in diverse ways. Some of the highlights include:
Day 1: The Melody of Monsoon — a Rabindrasangeet session with Fahim Hussain Chowdhury and Shraban Sandhya — and a dance performance by the Dancers Guild
Day 2: The Poignant Verses of Tagore — a session with Professor Ishan Chakraborty, from Jadavpur University’s English Department, who’ll narrate selected poems by Tagore that evoke a sense of reclusion and introspection
Day 3: Theatrical Tributes — two plays, namely Prophet and the Poet and Robi’s Garden
Other highlights are:
- Exhibition of letters from Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis Memorial Museum and Archives and Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The letters were exchanged between Rani Mahalanobis and Rabindranath Tagore, Pratima Devi and Nirmal Kumari Mahalnobis
- Exhibition of photographs of Tagore’s Europe travels and Tagore at P.C.M’s residences (Gupta Nivas and Shashi Vila)
- Theatre workshop by thespian Vijay Padaki
- There will also be Tagore’s record on gramophone and curated merchandise
Date: June 20-22
Time: 11am to 5pm
