Motherland Studios & Café in Chowringhee Mansion has come up with a fresh menu for winter that meanders around popular dishes from France, Germany, Italy. The 40-seater cafe focuses on inclusivity within its menu and as a result incorporates options and alterations for patrons who are lactose intolerant, eggetarian as well as those who are gluten intolerant.
“The winter menu is a mix of festive flavours and warmth that the season brings along with it. The dishes are all celebratory along with comfort,” said Esha Kayan and Prateek Kayan, the brother-sister duo behind the venture.

1. Potato and Leek Soup: The new menu has a variety of soups, ranging from French Onion, Mushroom, Carrot, Leek, and Classic Minestrone. we tried the rich and creamy potato- and-leek soup that’s a hearty and comforting bowl, apt for the season. @Rs 400-plus
2. German Potato Salad: A must try is the German Potato Salad with a Raspberry Vinaigrette. Diced potatoes cooked with bacon, gherkins and herbs are baked in the oven and then drizzled with a home-made raspberry vinaigrette. @Rs 480-plus
3. Eggs in a Spa: For those who eat eggs, this take on Turkish Eggs is a must try. Beautifully poached eggs dipped in garlic and Greek yoghurt mousse is drizzled with spicy red and green oil. @Rs 480-plus
4. Smash Chicken: Slow Roasted Chicken served with olive tossed exotic vegetables and served with creamy mashed potatoes and a brown sauce made from chicken marrow. This makes for a filling main course. @Rs 520-plus
