Nepal-based salon chain Neel David’s opens its first premium pamper point in city

Brand specialising in hairstyling and beauty services is offering a host of services at premium outlet

Neel David’s, the 16-year-old Nepal-based salon brand, opens doors to its first premium outlet in Kolkata at Golpark, the bustling south Kolkata locality. With several existing franchises in India, including a few in Kolkata, the first premium outlet of the brand at Golpark is spread around 1,350sqft.

The brand specialising in hairstyling and beauty services is offering a host of services at this premium outlet. While its emphasis is on hair and skin treatment services, it is also offering hairstyling including cutting, colouring and extensions; skin services like facials, massage, threading, waxing; manicure and pedicure services, nail art and professional make-up services. With experienced hair stylists from Nepal and Northeastern states, the USP of this premium outlet is to provide professional haircut and styling based on special techniques.

“We have plans of expansion in India and Dubai as well. In the last four to five months, we have signed around 13 franchises and the Golpark one is our 14th new outlet that is of the premium model, the first to be opened in Kolkata. We have two other models operating in urban Kolkata as well as rural areas offering basic services. Because of extreme pollution, people are going through various skin and hair-related problems. So, we are focussing on treatment services. There are various salons in Kolkata, but our speciality lies in the techniques of our services, provided by trained specialists from Nepal and Northeastern states. At this premium outlet, we are offering various luxury services. So, we chose a prime location like Golpark. We have done the interiors of the place based on modern technology,” said Chandan Patra and Rumi Sardar, business development partners, Neel David’s.

The hair wash section with two seaters is done on an elevated platform with relaxing facilities.

The luxury room with two seaters and modern light-adjusting mirrors is for offering services in private. Starting from all types of hair services to beauty services. Special refreshments are also offered to clients taking services in this room. The room is also used for professional make-up services, including bridal, occasion and party make-up and nail services.

The beauty room in subdued tones of grey has a restful vibe to it and has a single bed for offering all types of beauty services.

“The first salon I started was in Siliguri, in 2006. We have franchise outlets in Kolkata and came to know how people of Kolkata love our brand and talent. This is our third outlet in Kolkata. Our target group is not just restricted to the youth, but the middle-aged and elderly as well. We are offering international-standard hairstyling and beauty services at our outlet by practitioners with more than 10 to 15 years of experience in the industry,” said Neel David Katwal, the expert hairstylist who runs the 50-outlet salon chain.

“With our busy lifestyle, people can hardly take care of their hair and skin at home. So, weekly treatments are essential. We are focussing on treatment-based services, such as taking care of dandruff. Hairstyling is not just one aspect, it is about giving a makeover to the look and personality. Our service varies based on the requirements of the client. Right now, the trends are smokey colour and ash colour for the hair, volume cut and bouncy layers. Hygiene is extremely important to us and we provide the services by maintaining hygiene. Our academic services are also strong and by 2025, we plan to train 5,000 students and create job opportunities for them. We are also planning to train 100 underprivileged students per year free of cost. Our aim is to expand the franchise business along with the salon and academy. We provide full training and technical support to our franchises,” added Neel.
