In the last week of September, Ananya Birla-promoted Svatantra Holding acquired Micro Housing Finance Corporation for around Rs 300 crore. A couple of months before that, she had released the single Circles, which since June has picked up over 10 million views. The 24-year-old was born into one of India’s most respected business families but at the same time, the daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla and Neerja Birla has been trying to follow a path she can call her own.

The entrepreneur-singer is the mind behind Svatantra Microfin (a microfinance organisation to encourage entrepreneurship in rural areas, mainly among women), Mpower (co-founded with her mother, the organisation promotes mental health and well-being) and CuroCarte (promotes handmade products sourced from around the world), besides being the voice behind singles like Meant To Be, Hold On and Livin’ The Life. She tells t2oS how she manages to juggle all of these.
