The Covid-19 pandemic has turned all our lives topsy-turvy and affected every industry across the world. However, with adjusting to the new normal has come newer ways of staying connected.

And this is the case not just with us, but with household names like Shreya Ghoshal, Anupam Roy, Sahana Bajpaie, Rupam Islam, Upal Sengupta and Samantak Sinha too. Home concerts, a new-normal practice for the singers, are helping them to stay in touch with their audience in these testing times. Here are some home concert videos by these popular singers lending their voice to numbers close to their heart!

Shreya Ghoshal

A song from the 1960s by the Lata Mangeshkar, Shreya Ghoshal shared her “absolute favourite” number, Agar mujhse mohabbat hai, from the Dharmendra and Supriya Chowdhury-starrer, Aap Ki Parchhaiyan. The video was appreciated by actors Dia Mirza and Kay Kay Menon, among others.

In this home video, celebrating #25yearsofSLB, (filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali), the singer offered her “respect and awe” by singing Bairi Piya, one of the songs sung by her in the Bhansali-directed Devdas. The film also marked her debut in Bollywood.

Anupam Roy

Strumming his guitar, here’s the singer of Kolkata and much more singing a popular Shyama Sangeet with versatile ease.

Sharing a personal favourite, Anupam covered Green is the Colour by Pink Floyd from his cosy corner.

Sahana Bajpaie

The singer, who sings Rabindrasangeet as well as contemporary music with equal ease and is currently under rest to recover from a voice box hemorrhage, often takes to social media to share sneak peeks of her gigs.

Rupam Islam

The frontman of Bangla band Fossils and singer of hits like Ekla Ghar shared a cover of his “all time favourite singer” Kishore Kumar’s memorable song, Koi Humdum Na Raha, from his verandah.

Check out the singer strumming his original composition, Hasnuhana, inviting the fans to a digital concert.

Upal Sengupta

Member of the Bangla band Chandrabindoo and singer of soulful numbers like Bhindesi Tara, Upal Sengupta can often be seen humming with his nieces at home.

Samantak Sinha

Samantak Sinha’s home videos with fairy lights in the backdrop and him leisurely singing amidst books and musical instruments, are very relatable indeed.

Named ‘Fairy lights sessions,’ the Samantak can often be seen singing his favourite numbers solo or jamming with friend and fellow artiste Sahana Bajpaie.
