Police arrested two men from Nadia on Saturday and are trying to arrest others allegedly part of the gang.

According to the complaint lodged by a senior officer of the fraud containment and monitoring department of the private bank, the woman had gone to the bank’s head office with an appointment letter and an offer letter issued to her by the fraudsters.

The officer had lodged the police complaint on May 22 after realising the woman had been duped.

“The woman had told the bank officials that the men approached her claiming they spotted her CV on a job search platform. They offered her the position of a banker and sought money as registration fees and refundable security deposit. Since the communications were made over email that had the bank’s name and even a fake logo, the victim didn’t realise she was being duped,” said the officer.

During the investigation, the police traced the fraudsters following the mail trails and calls made to the woman’s number.

The police arrested Rishav Bachhar, 28, and Milay Dey, 28, from their homes in Ranaghat, Nadia, on Saturday.

An officer said based on their statements, the police conducted raids on an alleged associate of the two but the man fled.
