The West Bengal School Service Commission will hold a personality test (interview) for the 1,585 candidates who had cracked the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) in 2015, from October 21 for appointment as teachers in government-aided schools at the upper primary level (classes VI and VII).
Commission officials said the process would be held in compliance with a Calcutta High Court order.
“The 1,585 candidates will be the last batch of candidates who are going to be interviewed,” said Siddhartha Majumder, chairman of the commission. “Once we are through with the process, 14,300-odd teachers will be appointed.” In June 2021, the commission had conducted the interview of 15,436 candidates. Some had moved court as they were not called for the interview. The commission, following an order issued by the high court, held a hearing for 18,356 candidates.
“After the completion of the reasoned hearing, the commission found that 1,585 candidates were eligible for the interview. So we are proceeding with the interview,” said an official of the commission. Candidates have to download the intimation letter for the interview from the commission’s website on and from October 14 evening.
