Kolkata police on Thursday submitted a second chargesheet against Debanjan Deb, who had allegedly pretended to be an IAS officer and been involved in organising a fake vaccination camp at a north Kolkata college earlier this year.
The 750-page document charges Deb and eight of his alleged associates with attempt to murder, cheating, forgery, impersonation and disobeying government officials. If convicted, the nine could be imprisoned for life.
The chargesheet contains details of the case registered with the Amherst Street police station about an alleged fake vaccination camp in a college where 72 persons including staff, teachers and students were ‘vaccinated’.
Police said apart from the eight whose names were mentioned in the first chargesheet, a ninth name has been added in the second one — Indrajit Shaw, who apparently introduced the college authorities to Deb. Shaw is a former student of the college and was attached to Deb’s Kasba office as ‘head clerk’.
The police said there were eight other cases pending against Deb and the investigation was being handled by the city police’s detective department.
