GD Block residents put their best sartorial foot forward on the ramp on Panchami evening as participants aged between 20 and 60 years took turns to display beautiful saris, lehengas and kurtas.

Sanchari Samaddar was delighted to choreograph something after a long break. “We had 32 participants including married couples, college students and senior citizens. I have prior experience in choreographing because of my dance school Payel. It wasn’t too tough and we had fun,” she said.

Sampayan Lahiri participated in the show with his wife Sayani Mukherjee and felt like their pent-up craving for cultural events finally found an outlet. “I walked the ramp, sang and was also part of the dance drama, Chandalika. The one positive aspect about the Covid break was that it increased our appetite and enthusiasm for taking part in stage events.”

“Our first ramp walk was organised in 2019 and again this year. We wanted to engage and entertain residents and we are glad to return to offline cultural events,” said cultural convenor Samir Kumar Das.
