Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur, has opened another campus at Rishra in Hooghly.

The new campus has been named Bose House as this property in Rishra belonged to Sarat Chandra Bose, elder brother of Subhas Chandra Bose, and used to be the family’s weekend gateway.

The property spread over about 2.5 bighas (a little less than an acre) along the river Hooghly was handed over to Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha in November last year.

It has been developed as the second campus of Vidyamandira, said Swami Mahaprajnandanda, the principal of Vidyamandir

Apart from launching online and offline courses, the college is developing
museums on Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Bose house.

“The historic Bose House property has been donated by Paritosh M. Chakrabarti and Sreemati Chakrabarti to Ramakrishna Mission, Saradapitha, Belur Math, for the development and educational centre to promote the legacy of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose,” said principal Swami Mahaprajnandanda.

Swami Vivekananda School of Creative and Performing Art and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Multidisciplinary Studies will be developed.

He said they would start courses in the areas of digital journalism, digital marketing and mass communication.

“We have plans to start a language school...,” the principal said.
