Soon after the intermittent rain during the Durga Puja festivities, the temperature in Kolkata has been on the rise and the climate has worsened thanks to the rising humidity. However, the Met office forecast says on Wednesday, the districts of South Bengal may witness intermittent showers. The Met office has also predicted rain in the North Bengal districts like Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong and Darjeeling.
Meanwhile, following intense rain in North Bengal, a yellow alert has been sounded along the adjoining areas of Teesta.
The weather office has also predicted that Kolkata may be slightly comfortable with the maximum temperature hovering between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius from Wednesday.
On Sunday, adjoining areas of North 24 Parganas witnessed heavy spells of rain.
In the last 24 hours, the following areas received rainfall:
Jalpaiguri: 41.20mm, Alipurduar: 114.20 mm, Cooch Behar: 46.40mm, Siliguri: 26 mm, Moynaguri: 32 mm.
Sikkim has been witnessing intense rainfall and frequent landslides since Sunday. The administration has warned tourists and drivers not to venture out.
