Metro stations to get tea and coffee vending machines

Flavours from Mumbai, Gujarat, Madras to refresh the commuters

The Kolkata Metro Railway has decided to install tea/coffee vending machines at Metro stations to provide passengers with more amenities.

The vending machines will be installed across 26 Metro stations in the north-south corridor of Kolkata Metro.

The vending machines will first be installed at Dum Dum, Maidan and Kalighat stations. Other stations will be added in a phased manner.

“Metro Railway has recently signed an agreement with M/s Cherise (India) Private Ltd for setting up tea/coffee stalls..,” stated a press release on Sunday.

Commuters can now enjoy different flavours of tea/coffee like Mumbai Masala, Kolkata Elachi Chai, Gujarat Haldi Doodh, Nagpur Nimboo Chai, Famous Madras Coffee while travelling on Metro, the press release further read.

According to the Metro authorities, this initiative has been taken for the benefit of the commuters. These vending machines can dispense around 3000 cups of tea/coffee/ beverages daily.

East-West Metro

East-west Metro services will remain suspended on March 15, 16 and 17 because of a "new software upgrade" and a "testing and inspection" of the Phoolbagan-Sealdah stretch by the commissioner of railway safety of Northeast Frontier circle, said an official.
