A major fire broke out at a godown in southwest Kolkata's Taratala area on Saturday morning, officials said.
Twenty fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, first spotted around 10am, they said.
There was no immediate report of casualty or anyone being trapped inside the storage facility, the fire brigade officials said.
Visuals beamed on television channels showed smoke billowing, and reports said the windy weather was aiding the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and will be found out once it is brought under control, they added.
A battery manufacturing factory in Dankuni in Hooghly also went ablaze at 9.30am on Saturday.
A few workers were working inside the factory when the fire was spotted.
Three fire tenders arrived at the scene to tackle the flames, reported a news channel.
Earlier, a fire broke out at a wood godown in the heavily congested Nimtala Ghat Street in north Kolkata early on Friday morning.
