Admissions stayed
A Calcutta High Court division bench headed by Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava on Tuesday issued an interim stay on the admission to diploma in elementary education course for two days.
The order followed a petition challenging the validity of a notification issued by the state education department on December 28, 2022, announcing that admission for the 2023-24 session would start on January 3 and continue till January 6 and the admission fee would be Rs 3,000. The petitioner claimed that according to norms, the fee could not exceed Rs 300. The bench will hear the matter on January 5.
