Book Fair protest
Two youths who had been arrested at Kolkata Book Fair late on Monday were produced at a Salt Lake court on Tuesday and were sent to jail custody till February 1. A Jadavpur University graduate and a first-year student at a north Calcutta college were picked up by the police for allegedly protesting the arrest of members of a Left-leaning students organisation. They have been charged under IPC sections 353 (obstructing a government servant from discharging duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
