The forecast was for thundershower activities throughout Monday, but the city just got a drizzle or two in the morning. “The trough of low pressure that extended from Rajasthan to the northwest Bay of Bengal has risen. It now extends from Rajasthan to Nagaland via Bihar and north Bengal,” said a Met official.
“Because of the change in the trough’s position, the rain-bearing clouds gathered over Murshidabad, Malda and Birbhum,” he said. If the trough comes down on Tuesday, chances of thundershowers in Kolkata will go up. “There is a lot of moisture. If there is sufficient heating, thunderstorms are not ruled out,” he said.
Till 10am, Kolkata Traffic Police did not post any list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Tuesday (21.3.2023).
