The period between Saturday (Sashthi) night and Monday (Ashtami) morning is likely to be rainy in Kolkata, the Met office has said. “A system is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal. It is unlikely to intensify into a very strong system. But under its influence, a north-south trough is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and extend to Bangladesh,” said a Met official. South Bengal is expected to get rain from October 1 to 5. For Kolkata, the maximum volume of rain is likely between the night of October 1 and the morning of October 3,” he said.
