Van puller dies

A 34-year-old cycle rickshaw van-puller died after he lost control of the van that keeled over on Basanti Highway, between Kantatala and Gate No. 1 of Kolkata Leather Complex, early on Saturday. Aiyazaddin Mollah was declared dead at the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, police said. The van was loaded with cauliflowers, the police said.

2 biker injured

Riders of two motorcycles were injured when they lost control of the vehicles and skidded off two places on EM Bypass late on Friday and early on Saturday. Shiv Kumar Shankar, 46, was injured near Mathpukur around 8.50am. He was admitted to a private hopsital, police said, Santu Das, 33, was injured in an accident near Dhalai bridge late on Friday. He was also admitted to a private hospital along the Bypass, the police said.

Found hanging

A 62-year-old man from Bihar’s Salanpur was found hanging from a tree near the Shahid Minar bus terminus early on Sunday. Chotelal Shah, who was a street vendor in the Maidan area, was declared dead at SSKM Hospital, police said.
