Heritage walk
The South Eastern Railway organised a heritage walk around the Garden Reach headquarters on Sunday. Railway enthusiasts were part of the walk. The main building in Garden Reach was constructed in 1907.
The brass tablet commemorating the first Barrage Balloon, which shielded Calcutta against Japanese air raids during World War II, and the house of Sir William Jones, British orientalist and jurist, were some of the attractions of the walk.
Atulya Sinha, additional general manager and chairman of the heritage committee of South Eastern Railway, welcomed the heritage enthusiasts and briefed them on the rich heritage of different railway installations.
