    Calcutta University announces revised UG admission limit

    Calcutta University on Thursday announced the revised intake capacity of each affiliated college following the implementation of reservation for students from the economically weaker section (EWS), which was introduced by the education department in May.

    The university has listed the intake capacity of each course in a college for the fouryear and the three-year undergraduate programmes. In late June, CU enhanced the intake capacity for undergraduate courses by 22.2 per cent to ensure that the 10 per cent reservation for EWS students does not reduce the number of seats for general category students and seats reserved for other categories.

    Presi students demand hostel reopening

    A section of residents of Eden Hindu Hostel held a sit-in outside the dean of students office since Tuesday, demanding the reopening of three wards that have been lying in disrepair over the years. The students withdrew the protest on Thursday evening, following a meeting with the dean, Arun Kumar Maity.

    Sujay bail plea rejected

    The bail petition of Sujay Krishna Bhadra was turned down by a court on Thursday. The court directed him to get treated for his ailments at SSKM Hospital. Bhadra was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment in state-aided schools. At present, he is admitted at SSKM.
