Presidency entry

Candidates who have cracked the UG admission test of Presidency University have to register, pay a fee and indicate their choices from July 22. The state JEE board, which conducted the admission test, announced the counselling schedule on Thursday. The schedule has been uploaded on the board’s website.

List of schools offering rally breather grows

Many more schools have decided to keep their institutions closed on Friday to spare students the hassle of commuting on a rally day. The Trinamul Congress Martyrs Day programme at Esplanade might choke traffic in the heart of the city for much of Friday.

Most schools do not want a child to get stuck in snarls. St Xavier s Collegiate School, Calcutta International School, Don Bosco School Park Circus, St James School, Calcutta Girls High School and Mahadevi Birla World Academy have suspended classes on Friday. Loreto House, La Martiniere for Boys, South Point, Delhi Public School Ruby Park, The Heritage School and Indus Valley World School (for Classes IX to XII) will have online classes.

Hidco’s land query to Jadavpur University

The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation(Hidco) has sought to know from Jadavpur University what it intends to do with the five-acre land that the state government had allotted it in late 2018. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee allotted the plot in Action Area II of New Town to the university in 2018 for an education hub.
