A Class VIII student of a city school was forced out of her classroom in front of her friends on Monday, leaving her traumatised, alleged her family members.

After the class teacher came after lunch break, around 12.45pm, she allegedly asked the 12-year-old how she managed to enter the school and took her downstairs.

The purported conversation between the class teacher and the student, as reported by the student to her father is:

Teacher: “How did you enter school.”

Student: “Ma’am, through the main gate.”

The girl was then escorted downstairs by the teacher and allegedly told: “Your fees are not cleared.” She was then asked to wait in the school lobby. She had earlier been denied entry to the school on April 4.

Her father received a call around 1pm informing him that his daughter was waiting in the school lobby and he should come and take her.

“When I asked about the reason the woman on the other end said ‘nothing’ and disconnected,” he told The Telegraph.

The father, who was in Burrabazar, asked his brother to collect his daughter.

Back at home the girl has been traumatised and told her father that she felt “pathetic”.

“She told me that she felt very bad that she was asked to leave in front of her friends,” the father said.

The father claimed that he has paid fees as per the high court directions and yet his daughter was “harassed”.

His elder daughter who is in Class X of the same school but on another campus, was asked to leave after the security allegedly checked a list.

“When I asked at what time I should come back, the man asked me if I had paid the fees. I said 80 per cent after which he checked a list and asked her to leave,” the father said.

At another school, a Class XII student was stopped at the gate by the guard, alleged another family. Her mother intervened, some others parents said that if we cannot pay the fees we should take our kid to a government school,” the father said.

The officials of neither schools could be contacted for comment despite repeated attempts by this newspaper.
