Jashan Shah and Dishan Ghosh come out on top at the Jharkhand Amateur and Junior Open

A total of 31 players participated across multiple categories at Golmuri Club

The seventh leg of the Amateur category and the sixth leg of the Junior category of the IGU Eastern India Feeder Tour, the Jharkhand Amateur and Junior Open, was held between June 5 and 6 at the Golmuri Club in Jamshedpur. There were a total of 31 participants across all categories, all of whom showed commendable grit and determination to battle it out in the extreme conditions. The hot and humid weather had taken a toll on all golfers.

The vision of IGU is to promote golf across the county. For the Amateur category, the top six will qualify for the main tour. The chief guest for the prize distribution was D.B. Sundara Raman, vice-president of Tata Steel and golf captain of Jamshedpur Golf. Other dignitaries present at the prize distribution were R.N. Murthy, managing director of Tinplate Co of India Ltd, and Jeetu Garg.

In the Amateur category, there was a rare sight with a three-way tie between Jashan Shah, Abhishek Mitra and Biswakrit Ghosh, all playing 13 over par. In the playoff, Shah emerged victorious in the Amateur category with Mitra as the runner-up. In the Mid-Amateur category, Mitra secured first place with a score of 157 and Sumit Kakkar secured second place with 22 over par.

In the Senior category, there was a close competition between Dhananjoy Bose and B.V. Srihari Rao with scores of 174 and 175, respectively, with the former winning in the category. A.V.S.N. Raju secured the first position in the Super Senior category, playing 45 over par. C.M. Dubey won in the Nett category playing 11 over par.

Moving on to the Junior winners of the tournament, in the A&B Boys’ category, Dishan Ghosh and Biswakrit Ghosh were tied at 15 over par. In the playoff, Ghosh emerged as the winner followed by Biswakrit as the runner-up. Andrew Baid secured first place in the B Boys’ category playing 36 over par and Aarav Wadera was the runner-up with 39 over par. Ahaan Sureka secured first position in C Boys’ with a score of 196. In the D Boys’ category, Taksh Pandey, Aryaman Rungta and Aagam Doshi secured the top three places with scores of 218, 244 and 246, respectively. Jayansh Lakhotia emerged victorious in the E Boys’ category with a score of 105.

The A&B Girls’ witnessed Ananya Roy in first place with a score of 159 and Shristi Rani in second place with a score of 185. D. Tanvi won in the D Girls’ category playing 80 over par followed by Hissi Besra in second place with a score of 240. Novika Kakkar emerged victorious in the E Girls’ category playing 27 over par (nine holes). In the F Boys and Girls’ category, Viraaj Veer secured first place with a score of 158. Last, but not least, Rajdeep Paul triumphed in the Special category with a score of 108.

The IGU East Zone Junior and Amateur Feeder Tour continues to foster and showcase the future stars of Indian golf. The tour’s education partner is The Champ for Life Academy. The outdoor media partner is Balaji Ads, and the online proshop partner is Golfedge. Bisleri has come in as the water partner for this season. Keventer, Eastern India’s largest FMCG company, is the tour sponsor and provided players with juices and milkshakes. Additionally, Reliable Group is a sponsor. The tour is managed by Protouch Sports.
