His family said on Monday he was a car driver by profession and recently became mentally unstable. He has been undergoing treatment for a few months. “He developed a mental disorder a few months ago and since then has been behaving in an erratic manner,” said the man’s brother.

A few months ago, he had allegedly tried to enter Nabanna but was prevented by the police, his father said.

The police said the man was found carrying an iron rod under his shirt, indicating a possible ill motive, which needs to be investigated.
