After more buses for puja revellers, now there’s good news from Eastern Railway ahead of Durga Puja. The authorities have decided to run several local trains to facilitate pandal-hoppers across the state.
Eastern Railway has decided to run additional 50 pairs of local trains for Durga Puja. Kolkata's Durga Puja is even grander this year after it received Unesco’s ICH recognition.
People have already started pouring into various major puja pandals in the city.
It may be mentioned that several major Durga pujas have been inaugurated and people have been flocking these pandals in huge numbers. More people will flock to the streets of Kolkata in the coming days. Local trains are one of the major means of people coming to Kolkata from suburbs and surrounding districts. Railways expects more passenger traffic in local trains during these Puja days as well. In order to ease the passenger pressure, additional 50 pairs of local trains will run during Puja days to handle the rush of passengers.
These special local trains will run from September 30 (Panchami) to October 5 (Dashami) and stop at all stations.
The schedule is as follows:
- A pair of Sealdah – Ranaghat: Will depart from Sealdah at 12:40pm and will depart from Ranaghat at 11:45pm.
- Two sets of Sealdah – Naihati: Will leave Sealdah at 2.30am and 1.45pm. It will leave Naihati at 12:25pm and 2:55pm.
- A pair of Sealdah – Bangaon: Will depart from Sealdah at 12:40pm and will depart from Bangaon at 11:55pm.
- A pair of Sealdah – Dankuni: Will leave Sealdah at 11:30pm and will leave Dankuni at 12:25pm.
- One pair Ranaghat – Bangaon: Will leave Ranaghat at 10pm and leave Bangaon at 9:58pm.
- Three pairs of Sealdah – Baruipur: Will leave Baruipur at 4:38pm, 1:25pm and 3:10am. It will depart from Sealdah at 3:20pm, 12:30pm and 2:20pm.
- A pair of Sealdah – Budge Budge: Will depart from Sealdah at 11:30pm and from Budge Budge at 12:30pm.
