In order to ease public mobility, especially during the festivities, “The West Bengal Transport Corporation will run more than 100 buses,” said the West Bengal transport minister Snehasis Chakraborty. “This is being done following the insistence of the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee,” he said.
These vehicles will be available from Monday.
“We will be running buses all night during the Pujas,” said Chakraborty.
There will be 45 AC buses on long-distance routes, connecting the city with the fringes. An additional 59 buses will be added to existing routes.
Bodies found in Maidan and Kalikapur water body
The police swung into action after two unnatural deaths were reported in the city on Sunday. The body of a woman aged 40, was found floating in Kalikapur jheel off EM Bypass while the body of a bus helper, 49, was recovered from outside the Mohun Bagan club grounds. Locals informed Anandapur police who fished out the body from the Kalikapur water body and sent it to Calcutta National Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
