Five girls who had been allegedly beaten up and molested by a group of men and women in Duttabad off EM Bypass on Diwali night have been asked to depose before a magistrate at the Salt Lake court complex in Mayukh Bhavan and get their statements recorded next week.
Senior officers from the Bidhannagar Commissionerate have spoken to the girls as well as their family members.
The mother of one of the victims said they had received multiple calls from officers.
“The police have been sensitive. They have asked my daughter to be ready to record her statement before a magistrate. I will accompany her to the court,” she said.
On Monday night, the girls, who were out on a drive, had parked their car in front of a Bypass eatery and gone to relieve themselves inside a dark alley in Duttabad.
They were allegedly abused and assaulted by a number Duttabad residents after a group of men followed them inside the alley.
