The son of a retired navy officer, parts of whose body were found in a pond on the southern outskirts of Kolkata, has purportedly confessed to police that he had carried his father’s limbs in a bag and rode a cycle, while his mother sat on the carrier holding another bag that contained her husband’s torso, police said.
“Joy Chakraborty has admitted to the crime. He said he killed his father, Ujjwal Chakraborty, in a fit of rage because he had been hit and abused since his childhood. Joy strangled his father and then cut the body into five pieces,” said an officer of Baruipur police district.
On the night of November 14, Joy allegedly chopped his father’s body, swept the blood into the septic tank and then, helped by his mother, carried the body parts to a pond less than 1km from their house, police said.
According to a police officer, Joy got the idea of disposing of his father’s body from the recent incident in Delhi where a man allegedly killed his woman friend, chopped her body into pieces and disposed of the parts over months to avert suspicion. “Joy and his mother returned home after 5am and then went to the police station to lodge a missing diary,” the officer said.
The police on Sunday found some of the body parts of the deceased from bushes close to his house.
