The police said they have found the legs of the deceased person close to his house dumped in a bushy area.

“Ujjwal Chakraborty retired from the navy service and was engaged in a security service company now. On November 14, he got engaged in an altercation with his son and wife after he allegedly assaulted his son over the payment of fees for a course he is pursuing,” said the senior officer of Baruipur police directorate.

Following a scuffle, the son allegedly strangled the man and then he with the help of his mother, chopped off Chakraborty’s limbs before disposing of his body in a pond, around 1km from his house, the police said. The mother-son was arrested on Saturday after they allegedly confessed to their crime and said the crime happened “in a fit of rage.”

They have been booked under sections of murder, causing the disappearance of evidence and criminal conspiracy.

The 55-year-old Chakraborty, a resident of Saleypur in Baruipur, was reported missing from his house from Monday. His body was found floating in a pond on Thursday.

“We had received a missing diary on November 14,” said a police officer on Friday.

The cops had started murder case based on a complaint lodged by his wife Shyamali.
