Durga puja is in full swing. Pandals are filled with people decked up in Sarees and Kurtas. We are now in the middle of the Puja with celebrations galore.
The season of the festivities has been made more special with two Puja competitions- Shera Sorbojonin and Abasaner Singhasane-e-hosted by Anandabazar.com.
The Bengal, one of the sponsors, has been instrumental in organising the events. The Bengal is associated with different kinds of social work. They organize different cultural and social activities with eminent personalities to preserve the rich culture and heritage of India.
A whopping 290 Barowari Pujas and 250 housing Pujas from Kolkata were vying for the title of Shera Sorbojonin and Abasaner Singhasae-e, respectively.
After the initial selection of 20 Pujas in each category, the voting lines were opened for the public on Monday (Sashthi).
The registration for the competition started in September, ending on September 31. During the first week of October, the best 20 Pujas were selected for each title.
Three winners from each category will be selected on the basis of votes and number scored. In the auspicious evening of Ashtami, 10 winners will be declared by Anandabazar.com.
